Default 07-03-22 Sunday Morning flyrod action

I went to the town pond this morning.
Although the fish are usually bigger there , lately they’ve been hard to catch and it’s really nasty with all of the goose poop everywhere and the water looks polluted.
I caught one by the bridge in the 45 minutes I fished there and then packed it in and headed for the water reservoir dock that’s a little over ten minutes away .
The fish are smaller , but the area is fairly clean even though there are ducks and geese hanging around there too . The water is clear and I don’t feel like I’m going to catch some kind of bacteria while fishing there .
And what’s up with the foul hooking lately . At least mine is in the top .

I tried mine for about 30 minutes with a popper, no dice. Switched to jigs and even they were tough. You did better than I did with the fly rod. Pretty fish, glad ya got out.

Nice fish, gill, and that was an odd foul hook. I always enjoy seeing how the fly rod works. It’s Getting hot up our way. I took advantage of some overcast this morning and got a few hours wading my local creek. Not real spectacular size but got about 30 on a TM in Bison, and just a few on a mr twister mayfly nymph in yellow. A nice way to spend a Sunday morning.

I wound up catching 14 total for the morning although most were small .
Using a 5’9” 3wt or my 1wt Butterstick puts the fun into catching the little ones .
I usually have better luck with numbers using wet flies , but catch bigger gills on top usually.

Looks like a lot of fun. Those non-migrating geese can mess up an area.

The first one came from the stinking town pond .
It does have a few nice specimens in there.
