All I know is after we ran out of crickets last weekend the raisins my boy was eating worked just fine...hehe
My favorite bait for bluegill is a very small jighead hook with a chunk of worm and about a quarter of a piece of crappie nibble on it. If you're not quick they will clean off that hook for you real nice. Best way is cast and retreive slow, they take it better and it's easier to hook em. Seems like the bigger ones get to it better if it's moving. Good luck!
I have a jig with a face like this!

Right now they are tearing up my chartreuse sneaky pete, a pointy nosed popping bug. Since I have also caught them on cheetos and cucumber, I don't think they are that particular, but they are slamming these.
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!
