    Default Caught a few.

I am not slaying them but am getting better, and having fun doing it. I bought two new rods this past winter; a St Croix Panfish 6' and a Leland TCB 6.5'. I really can't say which I prefer. The TCB seems to have more back bone and may cast a bit further. Both are rigged with President 25s and 4 lb high viz line. Yesterday the shell cracker seemed to bite softer but fought harder than the bluegill...My imagination?

I use to think landing catfish on ultralight tackle was fun, now I look at it as down time and bent hooks.

Having fun is the most important thing. Spending the day with your furry fishing partner is awesome!

Rita Ballou adds a lot to the experience. She has to be on the bow hanging ten the whole trip. It can get a little crowded up there.
The heat is starting to get to her. I am going to have to rig up some sort of shade.

I agree with Ketchn, redears have the fight thing down. Where I fish I can tell if it’s a gill, cracker or redbreast before I can see them. Each has a different attitude and fight. No question though, the crackers are the toughest for me, I frequently have to palm the spool when they get going someplace I can’t let ‘em go.
