With heat indices here over 100 its too hot for almost anything, including walking and fishing

    I agree !
I go out in the mornings for short periods to places I know have some shade .
    A little breeze helps .
I can’t take the heat like I used to .

The heat here in KY is brutal like everywhere right now. I don't tolerate it like I used to. But I love to fish. Usually try to be in the water at daylight and if before the sun gets high in the sky.

    Default 06-18 Flyrod pond trip

Spent a little over an hour this morning throwing a foam bug on my 2wt Butterstick.
Only caught three gills , but one was respectable.
A little windy this morning but it felt cooler because of it even it it did make casting tough .

Thought I’d add this morning’s trip to this post because it is the quickest trip I’ve made in awhile.
28 minutes from the time I got out of my vehicle to when I got back to my vehicle.
I went to the town pond mainly because it has a shaded bank on the dam side and the temperature was already in the mid 80’s headed to a forecasted 102 .
When I made it over tho the shaded side , I was greeted with a heavy stagnant looking film , from one end of the dam to the other , with the corners the worst .
I made two casts from the center of the dam trying to keep my fly line off the film.
I was headed to the local reservoir that has the big dock and decided to fish the bridge area even though it was in direct sunlight . But at least it wasn’t covered up in the film as bad as the other side .
First cast with my Butterstick and I hooked up with a nice gill . Turned out to be the heaviest I’ve caught on the Butterstick judging from the bend of the rod when I picked up the gill out of the water .
The next three catches I grabbed the line and picked the gills up .
Caught four total in about fifteen minutes including the old guy who has the puffy lips , that I’ve caught four times now . His/her lips seem to be healing up .
Glad to see it still in the pond .
