    Default Shellcracker fishing 5/13,15,16,2022

I am probably finished fishing for Shellcrackers this season, so I will post my last 3 trips. Friday was a solo scouting trip, with Biofisher on Sunday, and with my brother in law, Leon today. I did not take pics on Friday or today, but we did have several nice photos on Sunday.

Totals, Friday was 10 keepers that are in my freezer right now. Sunday we had 16 keepers and about 8-9 short crackers that we threw back. Biggest fish was 11” and a couple more in the 10+ size. Today we only had 7 keepers, and released two female crackers as they were too small.

All fish were caught in two feet of water or less and artificial lures were used. No live bait for me. I love catching fish on jigs. The majority of the fish that were caught were on 1/48oz Litewire jig heads from Curtis Hobbs and Bobby Garland Itty Bitty SlabR’s and a different color was hottest each day. I removed the little barbs on the jigs as they will tear a new one in the Itty Bitty baits and I would apply a very tiny dab of Gorilla glue with the brush on applicator.

I have been wanting to get after em here in South Arkansas, but I can't get my dad to put down the crappie jigs long enough to hit the shallow water and use some crickets and try out our old spots. I know where they are, just haven't put a bug in front of them yet. Usually get a small fiddler channel cat out of the redear spots too.

You guys had a good time DK, and I’m glad to see it. Enjoy those keepers. Little in life is better than catching good fish in good company.
