A very nice group of fish, DHN! The colors were great. They’re all putting their best suits on!

Put the story to the fish pics, awesome day. The ShellCracker and Perch are definitely cake icing on the trip.

Where: lake in southern Indian North of Evansville 35 acres former strip pit. Very deep in areas 80ft.
Conditions: Cloudy, sunny and very windy average 20 to 25 mph. Water slightly clear with lots of weeds and gunk.
    Time fishing: 7 hours
Gear used: 2 bass rods with rubber worms, spinner and floating rapala. 1 4.5 " ultra light spinning reel with search bait and 1/32 squirrel tail jig.

Results: Kept 8 3 were nice shellcrackers. Released Crappie, ears and Gills to many to count 8 to 10" 1 bass 15" and 2 large pearch.

My neighbor( guy in photo) invited me to a friend's place near in
Southern Indiana about an hour and half from home. I grabbed 2 bass rods an a ultra light spinner, but It was the wrong one. Lol. Turns out I accidently grabbed an old ugly stick with less than half a spool of 9+ year old mono. I got to say It worked great for a 15+ year rod and reel especially in the windy conditions
It was a crazy day with wind gusts constantly and weed beds all around perimeter of lake. We were about ready to hang it up after catching 1 bass apiece around 1 pm. I suggested hanging out for a bit so I could enjoy a cigar. Well my neighbor spied an opening while we sat on a ridge looking down at the 35 acre lake. Just wide enough and free of weeds. I mean it was probably 20 feet or more.

We both decided to use the wind to our advantage a cast small jigs and a bobber ... We killed them from 2pm to around 5pm before the rain came in. I only took enough for a good meal and released the rest. It was hard not to keep the pearch. I've never seen ones that big in South Indiana.
Thanks for reading this long tale.
