    Default Berkeley Power bait

I have ordered some Mayfly power bait for bg fishing. I got tired of the Gulp Alive mess from leaking jars. My question is... have any of you added something such as Slab Sauce to the already infused power baits? Good, bad, don't make a difference?

I don’t like liquid attractants — too messy.

I’ve been tipping my jigs with plain ol’ Powerbait. It’s been working well for me.

No liquid attractants for me. Too darn messy. For years I used Crappie Nibbles…used to buy them by the case. But they do not stay on the jig head very well. There are post everywhere on how to dry them, so on and so forth, to make them stay on the hook better. Too much work for me. For a long time now I have been using the Berkley Power Wigglers to tip jigs with. I cut each section into 3 tiny pieces. They stay on the hook very well and no mess involved. Do they help catch fish…..well I catch a lot of fish. But I catch a lot of fish without them too. When I was introduced to the Float’N Fly method years ago at Dale Hollow to catch smallmouth all the gurus of that technique told me I would have to use the garlic paste to put on the fly or I wouldn’t catch any fish. I used the garlic stick and I caught fish. But it took several washings of my clothes I wore on those trips to get the smell out. So I quit using the garlic stick and the fly. I started using a Trout Magnet in place of the fly and no garlic and caught as many Smallies as folks using the garlic stick. To use an attractant or not will create a sometimes heated discussion. My take on them is when you start using an attractant and you catch fish it gets in your head you can’t catch fish without them. I am guilty of this. If I have the Power Wigglers I will definitely use them and when I run out…..well….I fish on and I catch just as many fish without as I do with. But won’t be running out for a while….just got in 6 packs….LOL.

    Regards

I pretty much agree with your theory of fish bite with and fish bite without. My hang up is the smells on my hands. Usually fuel. I like to believe it helps to mask my stinkyness. Not sure if it does or not but I feel that I didn't give it my best try if my hands have been around fuel and I just ignored it. Who knows?

I know the Honey worm powerbait works well on just a hook, or jig if the fish are biting pretty good, I cut them in half.

It probably can’t hurt. I have heard over the years that the smell of tobacco and fuel can have an effect on the fish bite, but maybe that might only be true for certain species.

Theres also the old cliche about mind over matter.
And another that says if you dont mind it dont matter.
Could we possibly include color into the mix?
