The town pond is a short two miles from my house . Great place to get in an hours fishing to satisfy that fishing urge when I can’t get away on a fishing adventure.
I’m lucky , I have the town pond , a county water reservoir that’s only ten minutes away, and another county water reservoir that’s less than twenty minutes away . The water reservoirs just about require taking the boat out due to limited bank access.
The rain started this morning, bringing in colder than normal temperatures that’ll shut down the bite for a few days once the rain clears out late this weekend .
There’s supposed to be a break in the showers this afternoon, if so I’m going try to get in a hours fishing .
Thanks guys for all of the comments and support in my quest of a 10” or more gill .
I’ve caught a few 10”+ before but because I’m a catch and release fisherman, I’ve never carried a ruler with me to document my catches .
    Here’s one I’m sure was over 10” .

I seem to be able to catch all the good gills that do t quite make the 10” mark but crossing that line is elusive. Those are some nice fish.

we see very few in that size range here , one lake has an abundance of them , but the rest of the waters here rarely if ever, yield a bluegill in that size range .
10 inches is a trophy bluegill ,congrats and KABOOM

Awesome catches, gillchaser! In my neck of the woods 8 inchers are rare and are considered trophy among a handful of us seeking them in the ponds or lake. Thanks for showing!

I’m lucky to have access to a few ponds that I can fish .
I checked to see if our state has any type of awards program and in order to qualify a bluegill must weigh 1.5# or be 13” . I’d like to catch a 13” bluegill.
I’ve caught shellcracker that long , but not bluegill .
