    Default One man's trash........

Back when I began taking a harder look at floats, I was told in a post to throw these in the trash, but decided to just set them aside instead. Recently Thill discontinued the Mini shy bite and Mini Stealth (I have found both of these to be excellent panfish floats) so I took another look at these 3/8" pencil floats I had set aside. Turned one into a slightly wider Mini Shy Bite style(sleeved at both ends), and another into a Mini Stealth style(line thru small holes across bottom and sleeved on bottom only). This one can also be fished as a slip float also. Could only fish a very small area of bank today due to about half of the lake being covered in skim ice (see pic). Only small fish caught about 5-6' deep, but floats performed flawlessly, good casting distance, balanced very easily and a few fish caught on the up bite also. Wish I could have fished more area of bank and maybe have found some better size fish but not today. Thanks for lookin!Name: DSC01549.jpg

I have several Thill floats and like them. Nice job on the modifications and that looks like a fun day.

Glad you caught a few. I saw just a bit of skim ice on the creek today. Water level wasn’t as bad in this section as further on down. I was tempted to bring a rod.

Those are some nice fish. Saw some skim ice here, the other day, on some small ponds. Can you do a post on how you modified the floats, so that others can also try making them?
