    Default Tug a war......

I'm on one end of the rope, the fish and weeds on the other end. Just trying to retrieve each cast in this stuff was a challenge today. No wonder why no one else was here on such a nice day weather wise. As soon as a fish was hooked, they headed right into the weeds & you really couldn't tell if they were still on until you got the whole mess on shore. Lost quite a few while they were tangled in the weeds while dragging in. Was lucky that the 2 bass hit on a small area of the dam that had a bit less weeds along the bank. All baits had either tubes or stingers attached to a single hook.Name: DSC01254.jpg

Seems like many of the lakes I fish are being taken over by aquatic vegetation. It can be very frustrating. Congratulations on your success!

    BuckeyeCrappie,
August/Sept. are really the only bad months for this lake, not bad the remainder of year. Thanks.

    Fly2bTied,
Have a older Hobie Mirage Sport but this lake is back in woods a good ways, 20 minute walk in and no good trail for wheeling a yak in. I fish a couple of lakes that I would love to be able to get a yak into because there is very little access to shoreline due to brush. Thanks.

Braided line in those weeds is your friend, it will cut through them nicely, but if the fish gets tangled up it is still a battle.

As said a beautiful location and photos, Moon. Yes, those weeds are a challenge. I wrestled with a nice pan a few days ago that made a beeline for just that type of cover. What a mess to get him out.

Pretty place, looks peaceful. I’ve fished ponds that had weed edges and they were a challenge. A 1/8 spinner bait with a 2” curl tail always kept me busy.
