    Default The Creek

By my house is around 250 to 300 yards away . It's really clear and really low this time of year . The dog and wife and kid stirred it up a bit in some spots when we walked over there today . Note the small bass looking at me with that what just ran thru the water look on it's fish face ....?
The fish were spooked pretty badly ,but some still managed to get on my jig . Fooling a fish that can easily see you is a chore , but someone has to do it right ?
Never saw anything much better size wise other than what I managed to ketch in 30 minutes . Some long ear sunfish , Red belly sunfish ( aka yellow belly in these parts ) one small bluegill and some little bass here and there in the water that was a bit over ankle deep .
Had mini and mom ketch a few crickets and tiny frogs to tip my jig , the crappie nibbles were not really what they wanted for the most part , some bit them , but most just pecked at them a bit .
Most of the slightly larger sunfish and slightly larger bass were VERY wary and even though some were better than what I managed , they wasn't even slightly interested in the jig or me when I tried to ketch them ....
Pretty good light tackle entertainment , beat not ketchn any fish today by a good bit for sure .
Probably could ketch some larger fish in there if it was really my agenda , but honestly just wanted to play with them a little bit .

It is a year round wet one , it connects to the major river system here a few miles downstream .
it likely has a few good sized fish in it further downstream .
its a real good spot to look for fossils too ....

Very nice that the family could get out and enjoy what looks like a real nice little creek. If they have enough jumping room those little smallies can really go vertical before they return your bait!

PS That was a perfect fossil.
