    Default Not much time left

Before my fishing buddy follows where life has led her family. I’ve been blessed to have her across the street for a few months now and we’ve made some excellent memories together. I’m cooking fish for the crowd in a little while and needed some more to cook so we got up early yesterday and beat the sun to the water by about 45 minutes or so. Bridges have clearance markers and they have to be visible at night so they have lights, and the fish capitalize on them. We started dropping jigs and put a few in the cooler, hustling to hit the lights for the aggressive fish before the sun put the squash on our plans. No giants but several crappie and a few gills made us smile. We hit a nearby bank and added a few more gills, even doubled up once. Shorts were dropped back now and then but most got the invitation to dinner. We both had other things to do about noon so we quit after about 3 hours and went home to get cleaned up. We had 5 nice gills and 5 decent crappie on ice when we got home. Cleaning them would have to wait, glad I had lots of ice.

This morning, for no apparent reason, my eyes popped open at 4am and wouldn’t close again. I got up, made coffee and had a bowl of cereal and waited for the sun to come up. I had stirred my queen who was looking like she was gonna get a nap so I changed clothes and got the boat ready and loaded and off I went. It was about 7 and I pulled about 9:15. Today was slower but I managed about a dozen but only 3 would make the cut. One each of Crappie, bluegill and shellcracker, but the cracker was the dandy of the day. Didn’t measure but I can say that line was only regained a few inches at a time. Lots still to be done before everyone arrives so I pulled and headed home. I’m gonna miss her, she and I share the passion of this punishment we call ultralight. Thanks for coming along, til next time we meet…….. Skeet Name: 1BC7DC95-A081-4F5F-8C85-7C15E6CF7CE3.jpg
