    Default My newest experiment idea

I was thinking about drop shotting 2-3 salmon eggs on a long shank hook for gills. Ever tried it?

That'll work, I used to catch them on salmon eggs when I was little. A jar of salmon eggs was cheaper than a dozen worms and lasted several trips. We just put one on a #8 hook under a float (no weight)

Drop shot is my favorite way to catch summer bluegills, and I have no doubt it will work with salmon eggs. I usually use a gulp mini earthworm on a #10 fly hook for drop shotting, but any plastic or bait works well.

I have caught bluegills full of eggs many times, and I mean in their stomachs not spawning eggs... Shad and bass eggs mostly.

Try it, I guarentee you'll catch fish on your new rig! Try to find the chartreuse eggs, bluegills love chartreuse.

Sounds like it’s worth a shot. Please let us know how it works out.

I use #10 hooks with a crappie nibble and they work great, 3ea with 1/16oz drop shot. Chartruese is my favorite color.

They should work just fine. I'm going to try some cawtaba worms on the dropshot. It's going to have to cool down before I do.

Well it looks like my idea is on hold. Even though we have a trout lake 30 miles down the road our local fishing suppliers quit stocking salmon eggs. The last of my eggs were used up years ago. Oh well... until I can get some I'll continue to use my gulp fish fry and trout magnets.
