Eagle, I too have an Airstream and like it a lot. Not as light as the trout slayer series but pretty sweet.
I also just bought a Diawa regal with 10 bearings that is extra smooth and about $60. Handle one before you buy is all I can say.

The Cadence 1000 that Richard Gene speaks so highly of is about the same price and bearings on Amazon.

there is a bunch of stuff out there on the light end that should get the job done in the under a hundred range .
unless you hit the water a high number of times per week and fish them hard , lots of the under a hundred set ups will work well for a good while .
as far as what wont work with what set up that simply isnt true , the range of lines and lure weights is what is suggested by the manufacturer as to what will perform best on the tackle .
some of my medium rods not designed for 1/64 work fine with that weight and that said you can always lighten up the line weight to accomplish the goal on heavier combos with the light jig as well .
the big plus on a slightly larger combo is this , it can double as a rod for other species when the adventure calls for it

Any particular combo recommendations, or should I just grab the 6 foot ultralight from the link I posted? I have to check, it might be out of stock.

If you don’t like that one, BP has plenty of others for sale.
