    Default A real tussle!

While fishing for bluegill at Dale Hollow Saturday this big boy ate my 1/32 trout magnet on ultralight. Once he realized he was hooked he took off like a scalded dog and peeled line from my reel and headed for the woods. he went around a willow tree then headed for deep water. Yes I was panicking by this time. I trolled to the trees to get around the one he wrapped when the bass swam towards me and wrapped around my trolling motor shaft. Unbelievably he surfaced in front of me and got netted. I thanked him/her for the thrill of the day and let her go! And who says fishing is relaxing? Not me!

I put in at Holly Creek Marina and motored over to Kemper Flats. Way too much boat traffic so i went to other side of Kemper up in Ferguson Creek as far as i could. Found a huge bed of active shellcracker. Dozens of monsters but they would not bite anything i threw. Backed off the bed for an hour and went back, still lockjaw. Those brutes would not touch bream killer below popping bug, trout magnet, Mepps Aglia, Mr. Twister, anything. Very frustrating. Caught one gill, one Rock Bass, and the big boy in the photo.
