    Default It just gets better!

Spring of 2021 will go down as probably the best fishing I have ever had. The overwhelming fragrance of honey suckle filled the air on my arrival at Nickajack Lake today. Not a breeze all day long.....an UL anglers dream. I found 3 new shell cracker beds that were not there last trip down. If you look at the left side of the screen of the sonar pic you can see just how big one of the beds were....I know I should have taken a screenshot in the unit but neglected to do so. I also found 2 bluegill beds. I proceeded to boat 137 quality fish. Around 95 were shell cracker in the 9-10 inch range with a few 11 inch fish in the mix. Also had several mixed breed shell cracker.....they always give a great fight. Had to deal with about 10 largemouth....fishing a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet seems to really attract largemouth. Bluegill in the lower lake at Nickajack are not the best. But I got into a lot of 8 inch bull Gills and they made for a ton of fun. The vast majority of shell cracker and bluegill were caught with a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1.5 gram jig head #10 hook. I used the Abu Garcia Eradicator Super Ultra Light Slow Taper Special 6’ 7” rod today....it is still my favorite rod. I had it spooled up with 3# test Varivas BFS nylon line today....while it worked out fine I am just not a fan of this line....but it sure takes a lot of stress out of the mix. Polyester line is super sensitive but will snap in a microsecond....need to save it for fishing deep water. The action was fast and furious for a solid 4.5 hours then I decided to head home. Next week I will hit it all again. Sore Lip’Em All! Life is good!

    Regards

Epic day and it has been a good Spring for sure. I went last night and found them in several places all colored up pretty and ready to dance. Hard to go back to regular Nylon after using low stretch string.

Wow, super Spring for you is right. Thanks for a really nice ride along. The smallies must have been a blast on that rod! Your surgery repairs are paying off! Fish on!
