Yep. Unfortunately it jumped out of my grip when I was unhooking it, so I hope it survived, but it did swim off.

I feel the same when I catch an exceptional fish or fish on something new. It transforms a mediocre day into a fond memory. Nice catch!
Continue using the float using different weights and lures. No doubt more pleasant surprises in store for you.

Yep, I'm sure that there will continue to be fish in this location throughout spring and into early summer, when they nest and spawn, so I'll try all sorts of lures on my bobber throughout the next couple months.

It's not always how many I catch but the quality of the catch which outweighs fewer numbers. Congrats! Now you have a shallow water technique you can count on and the different lures to use with or without the float. The beauty of learning different lures and techniques are the roads discovered to expand that knowledge. It's like learning to read for the first time and discovering books (in my case comics )
