Pound for pound one of the best fighters out there when you use the right gear. Like others said, nice to be kept busy on the water.

That one in the photo was in the 8 inch range and pulled like heck .
Knew it wasn’t a crappie best I could tell , but none the less it gave it heck .
And thumped that jig like a big dog too.

Goes for any of the pan fish when large in size bending a light action rod. 15" crappie, 13" yellow perch, 8" sunfish?! Oh My!

+1 on that, Spoon. With my TSS U/L or little Luna the action cannot be beat. Even the little guys are fun!

BobC, I assume you feel the same amount of shear excitement seeing the float disappear and then feeling the the fish's panic when it senses it's all over. Dang!, no different than large fish striking on the surface !
I do, Spoon. The thrill is there! Years ago I thought “Well, now I have to fish for bass, etc”. I’m glad I came back to my roots, discovered U/L and found this site. The fun factor is always there, even on the slow days.

Love the fight on the UL rigs. My fav is a 10" or larger shell cracker. Those fish pull like no other. Sadly, I don't run across them all that often.

big red ears are several fish in one when they fight .
hard for me to tell what i just hooked up with .
typically i can call what fish right after i hook up .
not them though .
one i would a swore was a black bass one day ...pulled like a train .
one went bananas at another spot and i was sure it was black crappie .
then yet another pulled exactly like a kitty fish and even rolled a bunch .
good stuff no doubt ...wish we had more of them in these parts

Don't remember catching many in the lakes around Wichita Falls. (But then again it was so long ago I can't remember what I caught...).wish we had more of them in these parts
