Default Rods for casting lights jigs

I have read some of the info and asked questions myself before on those JDM rods.
Given the situation in our world right now I would assume these are very difficult to come by?

I’m interested in looking to purchase a rod specifically for fishing 1/64 and 1/32oz trout magnets and similar sized jigs and using 2lb line. I normally use 2lb for panfish. I understand the ins and outs of line diameter...

But I’m looking for a ROD that can be had here in the US that would do a good job casting these and be no longer than 6’’6””. I looked at the TCB but I don’t know much about it specifically for this task.

This rod will be used specifically for this type of fishing for bluegill-crappie.
But I want it so I can get the best casting distance 1/64-1/3/2oz jigs and NO float.
What’s out there that has an action that can do this well? Thanks men.

I certainly would recommend that you take a hard look at the TCB. I have the predecessor TSS from Leland and it does a fine job casting 1/64-1/32. It is made for that. It is a nice value for the price - obviously not top of the line hardware but works just fine. A rod like that will give you a taste of what a JDM rod is like. My TSS all up weight is 8.2 oz and sold me on U/L fishing for pans/crappie. The fun factor is great!

JDM rods are very hard to source right now. I did a review of the TCB and it will cast a 1/64 ounce 45 feet using .128mm diameter line. I am sure there are some longer, more limber rods that will get you a few extra feet. The TCB is a great rod for the money and is very sensitive.

Both G Loomis and St Croix have a bunch of rods that would work for you.

Loomis SR 661 is one. St Croix Premier or Avid (in light or UL) are very nice, too.

All are more expensive than the TCB, though.

Not all JDM rods are hard to source. The Tenryu Lunakia comes in 5'8" and 6'3" models, designed specifically for casting light jigs. The 5'8" model has a max lure rating of 2g (just over 1/16 oz) and a max line rating of 2.5 lb. Sounds like it was intended for your exact use. The 6'3" model has a max lure rating of 3g and a max line rating of 3 lb. Both have solid tips. Both are in the US and in stock.

If the Lunakia rods are in your budget I would certainly take a look at them.....you most assuredly will not go wrong with those 2 mentioned.

Agreed. They are better than the Loomis and St. Croix models I mentioned.

My favorite crappie rod is a 5' Okuma Celilo with a Okuma Ignite UL reel and 2# test line! Highly recommend it. Also have a 6' Shakespeare Crusader with a Kastking centron 3000 and 4# line n it. Have a couple 6'6" rods also but usually use them as loaner's.
