    Default Moving water winter bluegill

    Hi , it’s been awhile.
I’m getting the urge to wet a line .
Haven’t fished much since Covid .
I’ve got a spot I’m thinking of trying that was good during warm weather.
It’s a creek below an old mill dam .
I did pretty good there with my flyrod last time .
I think if I go during the week I may be able to have it to myself .
Anybody fish moving water in the winter for bluegills ?

Will do , I’m planning on giving some trout magnets a try as well as some micro jigs I tie myself .
Don’t know if my arthritis in my hands can handle the flyrod when it’s cool .
Worst I can do is have a good time trying .

I do....except this winter I’m dead in the water recovering from spinal surgery so I’m missing out. In the winter they will stack up at places like you just described.

    Regards

Try to find a bend in the channel. Fish that pretty hard.

Did I just read that there's a fish in N. America....let alone in Texas that Ketchen can't identify.

I haven’t made it to the creek yet .
We can a front come through three days ago that dumped a couple inches of rain raising the creek out of its bank .
Dropped the temps below freezing too .
Going to try to get by there in the next couple of days as the days start warming . Got to time it before the next front coming in Thursday.

Would love to see some warmer weather around here! It will be awhile but I like hearing the experiences with moving water fishing. That’s my primary waters.

    57 high today , 59 tomorrow, 61 on Tuesday .
Going try and go tomorrow and Tuesday. Pond one day , creek the other . Pond is closer , less than 10 minute drive . Creek is about 25 . Probably give the creek a try on Tuesday , give it another day to settle after the rain a few days ago .
