    Default Beggars can't be choosers

After a few hours of watching that float sitting there motionless, I was considering calling it a wrap. I was beggin for a little bump. Finally, two in a matter of minutes and then that was it. Using 1" Gulp alive minnows. Thought I'd have picked off a crappie or two but it wasn't happening today. Truth be told, those two gills put a smile on my face!Name: DSC00383.jpg

After hours with no action even the smallest of fish would make me happy!

Getting it done in the snow! I've found the 1" gulp minnows and earth worms to be the best in cold water.

I was wishing I had some worms today. Sunday I used up the last of my nightcrawlers and that is what the gills wanted then. The crappies hit the 1" Gulp minnows.

Wow, you guys in the western part of the state did get a blast of winter. I’m not complaining here in SE PA, you can have all the snow you want. Maybe just a little before spring run off.

How big was the jigs you were using, maybe going smaller would have helped. Yes BobC, we had at least 13 inches here, Monday evening thru all day Tuesday. Had to even go out and clear the snow and ice off of our Dish antenna, Monday evening, and already had over 9 inches.

No jig. Hooked thru top of back on a #8 tru turn and a bb split shot a foot above. First year using these Gulp 1" minnows and I thought that would be a natural presentation. Any suggestions appreciated.

The crappie action has been crazy with the recent cold weather. But I thought I'd try for some gills this evening. Managed to catch a couple with the Gulp 1" minnow on a Shimano Soare jig.

And a crappie snuck in there too.

Gonna try the worms next time.
