    IIRC you can get circle hooks down to size 10. I used 8 all one afternoon fishing waxies for bluegill after bluegill and IIRC I had only a single gut hook. Circle hooks perform like they say they do and when it comes to strength if your line is balanced to the size of your bait, very few hooks are going to fail even on very large fish. The knot or the line will almost always break before the hook. Most bent hooks come as often after the fish is landed because it can apply more force out of the water than in it.
