It boggles my mind. And most bait cast rods are broom handles. To be able feel fish with that.Sent from my E6810 using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
The mag brake setting is critical to avoiding backlash. Also, a smooth casting motion helps. No snap casts! I've got pretty good at casting the 1/32 oz stuff. I can even go for good distance now (casting with a bit more force) without a backlash. But it's easy to go over that line and then there's a backlash. Fortunately, the backlashes are usually very minimal and can just be pulled out or picked out within 10 seconds. With the light lures, the line doesn't dig down into the spool as it can with heavy lures.
There are light and ultralight bait casting rods made specifically for BFS. You really need these to cast light lures (rod loading). The good ones are every bit as sensitive as the good UL spinning rods.
Once again, I've been messing with this BFS stuff out of curiosity and for the challenge. It hasn't really added any new capability to my fishing arsenal, at least as far as the fish are concerned. And it has actually improved my bait casting skills with traditional lure and tackle (heavier stuff).
Fishfishwish.. What make is that bright, light green line?
That's Diawa J Braid X4, Fluorescent Yellow.

I also use the X8 stuff too.
