I've never seen one of their spinning rods before. Their old fly rods are still popular, and people snatch them up on Ebay.

Again, that cork is beautiful. Did you clean it or did it come that way?

I am digging that combination, would like to see in one big pile the fish that rod has caught.

This particular rod was purchased years ago from a gentleman who refurbished old Shakespeare rods. He had replaced the cork. I do clean them if needed and use U-40 Cork Seal on all my rods.(good product). This one was bought because I was born in 1952. Thanks.

That rod is in beautiful shape. I would have loved to have had an outfit like that in the 50s. My dad wasn’t into the out of doors so all I had was really crappy stuff until I could earn enough to buy my own gear. Nice to see it still in action! Enjoy it! (That said, I still have that crappy rod out in the garage!)

Another product you can use to protect your cork grips is called Tru-Oil. It is linseed oil with some additives. Orginal used for wood gun stocks but does a terrific job on cork rod handles. Got it on all my rod handles.

Here is a 20 year old rod I just cleaned the handle up and put tru-oil on. It really helps keeping your cork grips clean.Name: 20200923_110032.jpeg
