Use lead rings from old floats or use flat lead strips cut from a thin lead sheet. Straighten out the top wire bend and disassemble it. Remove bottom foam to make room for the lead strip. Reassemble and bent the top wire loop back. I usually coat the lead with a coat of crazy glue to finish it off. You can control the size of jig or fly it supports by the amount of lead you add.

You can also use the lead wire the fly tiers use to make their weighted flies

Thanks for showing how you add the lead. Was thinking that a person could also add some tiny split shot, or even bb's glued into the foam.

I also use a weighted balanced bobber. I use a Thill bobber and wrap the shaft with wire lead or solder.
The bobbers are balanced for the weight of the lure I am using. With the lure load the bobber is vertical; if there is a up bite the bobber flips horizontal. This works well when fishing over weed beds and the fish are attacking upwards.
I give the wire lead a coat of epoxy to secure it.
