It looks like a mix to me. TN does not have copper nose....but....someone decided to put some in Laurel Hill Lake. It is a 300 acre TWRA family fishing lake. The few copper nose that were released in the lake has turned it into a mixed mess. You catch very few true northern stain now. Most of what you catch is mixed. They can go wild in colors. I’ve caught blue.....purple....yellow....all sorts of colors.

    Regards

Its a bit odd in that I never saw that particular coloration in there in the past and the last 2 visits we managed quite a few .
Quite a few have that really orange/red little breast plate on a pale body with red tails and pectorals

BTW what are them river bluegills I seem to remember that are on fire painted up ?
Some bluegill fanatics actually go there just to ketch them and bring them to their own state .
I think they come out of Florida or somewhere in the SE ,maybe Georgia ?

i researched it some and short of the black paint spots i bet these have some of that line in them . they frequently have that same fire patch on the chest and reddish fins and pale bodies . supposed to better than coppernose for stocking in some spots due their cold tolerance and will grow as fast and large.
commonly called "hand painted bluegills "
