The trout magnet is itself a clone of the beetle spin jig still being sold today.

I need to sit at my fly tying bench and come up with my own trout magnet clone. One that is straight, doesn't get torn up, and will stay on the hook even if I shoot it under docks. I tied up some nice 1/16 oz. jigs the other day with a weed guard, eyes, and marabou tails. They won't be sliding off the jig head no matter what bites em...

Here is a imitation I tied a couple of days ago. 1/29oz, #12 hook. Little copperhead!

A simple marabou-and-chenille jig is a killer. Think "woolly bugger" but without the hackle.

You can substitute rabbit for the marabou, if you like.

Here are a Bison and Sow Bug hand tied by a member on here. Look pretty darn good to me.

Make your own. Take almost any Z-man bait (like a TRD, for example) and cut it up into little "trout magnets".

You can do the same with any plastic. Buy 4" bass finesse worms and cut them to whatever length you like.

Kind of like these chenille and split feather tails maybe.

Isn't the nature of soft plastic lures to be soft.I mean, more natural feel in the fish mouth so they won't spit the lure ?

Yes.....there are several articles about that very subject. Many plastic lure makers want a certain feel and mix the plastisol accordingly....especially bass lure manufacturers.
