A 1/16 oz is a little too big for bluegill. Start with the tried and true white 1/32 Beetle Spin.

Good advice up above. With some lighter gear you should be able to get going. Pans are pretty accommodating - with the right gear a blast to catch. Welcome to CC.

For beginning fishermen, hard to beat live bait. Some small hooks, a bobber, and a piece of worm is how many of us old timers started.

    Good luck

What do you mean by "spinners"? When I think of spinners, I think of something like a Mepps spinner. That is very different from a Beetle "Spin".

Also, as noted above, there's nothing wrong with live bait.

I'm really not sure what I'm talking about, so I was thinking about both the beetlespin, as well as one or 2 inline spinners.

After a quick check of my reel, it seems that the minimum line test is 6lb. Can I use 6 lb line instead of 4 lb line? Or should I shift my focus to bass?

You can still put 4# on it.

Do you have a Walmart nearby? Bass Pro? Cabela's?

Oh, ok. I have some of the stores you mentioned within 45 minutes, so I might go and look at what they have.

I would check your rod as well. Your really gonna have a hard time casting and using a heavy rod for the light jigs and lures. You can get an inexpensive ultra lite setup and have a ton more fun.
