Welcome Ken. I was in LV in Feb, just before all the COVID stuff began to kick in. Wanted to make it out to Meade, but ran out of time.

Well first of all I like to thank everyone for the warm welcomes and yes pictures will definitely be coming once I find out how to do it lol. Back to Lake Mead there was a time in the early 2000's when water was high enough i remember there were even bass tournaments held there and yes there were crappies. Even today with lake looks like its gonna dry up any day there is still good fishing to be had, especially for striped bass. But the day of short hikes from the tarmac are long gone, now as i get older even harder. However I almost feel embarrass being in the largest crappie forum in the continent admitting i've never caught a crappie before, Ketchn..Lol. Not that i don't like to fish for them I just never ran into a good mess of them from the shores of many reservoir and lakes i visited while in Cali.
    Ken

Welcome to the Crappie.com forums. There probably isn't a forum for Nevada, possibly because, no one ever asked for one. When Ed Moes (SLAB) created this new forum years ago, members asked for state forums. I did, and ended up being asked if I would be the moderator for it. So, there could possibly be one, if it was asked for. Or there might have been one, but no one was using it enough, that it got taken down. You could inquire with him, or possibly the supermods.

Would suggest that you do a post on the main forum, asking if there are any other members, that are from Nevada, and see what response you get first. Then go from there. Plus that would give you a chance to meet other fishing people.

I remember a big carp tournament at Lake Mead. (It might have been Tahoe).

Several things i learned since targeting carps as sport fish is that 1:they are not good eating (it's ok it's been years since I last took my catch home anyway)2: they are quite frankly very popular elsewhere in Europe mostly and lastly they are strong fighters! I was scared silly one day just carolina rigging for bottom bluegills and hooked into something felt like 10 lb largemouth bass except it bolted and with a measly 5'Berkley lightning rod in hand with 4lb mono i thought game over then the light drag of the reel set in and it slowed, turned out a 14" carp maybe little over 1 pound. From then on every time i'm at the same pond fishing for bass or bluegill there's no doubt in my mind i'm hoping for a repeat of experience...lol
