What kind of tape is that on the far right?

These are spin rods that I have built over the years. My choice of handle type has evolved from the full handle with the popular fixed reel seat insert that requires a inner sleeve material to attach to the rod blank. The two rods on the right is what I prefer today. I feel that these all cork handles built with close tolerances and diameters to fit my large hands are the most sensitive feel I can achieve with materials today. Please understand that this is a subjective opinion based on no objective test. I am not comparing them to any manufactured rod. I do not and have never sold a rod that I have built.
One other note the second from left rod was built many years ago. It is a 2 wt, 7 1/2'fly rod blank built as a spinning rod. It can throw a 1/32oz jig fly pretty well and small gills are a ton of fun on it.

Look good enuf to fish with!!!I too build my rods with fly rod blanks, my favorite is a 9' 4 pc 7 weight blank, but I also use the microwave guides which are much smaller and limit the line flap. I cant post pictures anymore (Age 84), and missing some reckoning factors. Keep up the good work. If looking for good blanks for the right price, see "get Bent" here in St louis.
Nice work, like the build to fit way you went about it. I have the parts for a rod that will come out something like the far left. I’m hoping to copy my chevron wraps I did on my 4wt between the butt and grip. I’ll show when it’s done. Too many choices for a newbie. I’ve wrapped for a long time but stepped up the detail with current projects. Helps having Mudhole about 20 minutes away.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I would say that having Mudhole 20 minutes away would be financially dangerous!!

The tape you see is 3M electrical tape. There is some fiberglass reinforced tape under that that is the real attachment material. It has 0 stretch and the reel feet are locked solid to the cork grips. Electrical tape just to cover reel feet. Sent from my SM-G960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
