Default A little seat time with the 6’7” Abu Garcia Eradicator Slow Taper

My dad and I took a trip to fish Lake Keokee in Virginia. We hadn’t ever been there before but had read it had some decent sunfish in it and few crappie so off we went. I took along 3 sticks with me... The Abu, Tict Rockin Finesse, and 7’4” Corto... I did try to drop shot a little with the Corto but not much was going on. Caught my fish throwing various trout magnets in several colors (sowbug, bison, greenie weenie, black/green). The lake is full of standing trees and stumps. Some places I couldn’t even fish for constantly getting hung up. Didn’t catch a ton of fish but got 9 keeper sunfish and dad caught a 11” crappie. We will for sure go back again and hopefully find a few more. The Abu performed well with the presso reel 2lb maxima and a 1 gram daiwa jighead. I will say the rod has quite a bit of flex in the tip making me feel as if in comparison to say the Rockin Finesse it doesn’t have as much backbone??? For sure two completely different rods. I don’t regret the purchase that’s for sure... not sure which one will get the call in the spring time for the specks. It was a lot of fun on the water and here are a few pics from the day.

Nice fish and a nice trio of rods!

Never heard of that lake. Looked it up No wonder, that's WAY west in VA! Looks like a nice area.

Since my rod is on the slow boat....LOL......give me a little more thoughts on the Eradicator. I’m sure mine will be here for my crappie bank fishing trips and the fall stack up of bluegill in the dead lock. I’m also thinking it will be the fun rod to use on the first white bass that show up in winter that are in the 10 inch range??

    Regards

Nice looking piece of water and great fish. Please keep the Abu reviews coming. That Aussie site does have A great price on that rod. The “buy” button is starting to look pretty tempting.

Good catch, be some good eating. Glad to hear another positive review of the ABU, I do like my 6.10 hybrid rod in that series.

haha yep it’s a little over an hr drive for me... we were the only boat up there and only saw a few people that were walking trails... pretty neat place and I’ll for sure go back...
