    Default Dinks = SUL

This morning felt great outside. So after I dropped the kids off I hit an isolated pool on a creek that feeds a lake by my house on my way to work. It is on a wildlife management area and you have to walk about a mile down a trail to get there. Last summer I found this pool and caught tons of green sunfish (mostly small). Since I knew what was in there, I elected to bring the MC Banshee SUL. I literally caught 50 green sunfish in 50 casts. I only fished for about 45 minutes before the sky started getting dark and I knew I had a decent walk back to the truck. I had a blast catching dinks on this rod with the Ballistic 1000’s drag set super light to make it more fun. I only used one trout magnet the whole time and it got tore up pretty good. I hadn’t fished in a couple of weeks, so this scratched the itch until I can get back on some real fish. Good times!

Pretty fish. That's the beauty of the Banshee SUL and XUL rods....makes those size fish a ton of fun. I'd stayed on them all day long that size with these rods we use.

    Regards

Great little trip, the MC Finetail UL series is so much fun for that size fish. Need to knock the dust off mine and go look for some Sunfish from the bank.

Man do I love catching green sunfish! Fiesty to say the least ! Catching that many keeps the tension (rod and me) high. Excellent choice in lures though my personal preference would have been a ball head jig with #6 hook. JMO
You did great so no need to change.

Those green sunfish are scrappy for sure! Glad you got out and put a bend in the rod!

On my designated "home lake" I can catch Green Sunfish almost any time I cast a jig or Road Runner too close to the rocky shoreline. I'm more apt to catch them casting a Road Runner, though, since I don't usually cast jigs right against the bank to begin with ... but the occasional errant cast does happen.
