I'm sure they'd work, but I don't like treble hooks for gills. I'd replace with a single hook.
Any use these tiny crank baits for gills? Wall-mart had them for 1.86 .

Good buy
Well, right now the jury is out Eagle. I used a #6 in line vertical that I found at Finesse Fishing. I had trouble finding anything smaller in the IL vertical. The smallest Owner I saw was a #6. As it turns out, finesse also has these hooks in #8 to #10. Chris has some guidance at Finesse on size conversion. If my memory serves right I think he said if the plug was 50mm go with an 8 on the conversion. I plan on buying some 8 and 10 and experiment. He also has those small split rings that can be harder to source. Hopefully someone here can give some guidance on various size plugs with a good single hook size. The size you choose can also be influenced by whether you plan on installing a forward hook as well as the rear. I just have the rear hook. Please let us know your results.
bob
Hadn't seen any in Batesville or Pontotoc so i might ride over to New Albany one day to see if they have any more....looks like they might be worth a try

I actually started a thread on them last week. I'll link it below. They worked well for me, but I also found that the cheaper knock-off version worked better in a head to head comparison. I've tried them on their own a few more times since then and they did very well with bluegills. I'll have another video coming out with them in a few weeks. For that price at Walmart I would stock up. They normally go for at least double that price on Amazon. They're a neat little lure.
