I think your right about this DB4D. I tried a popper with an ice ‘n Fly but really didn’t enjoy it. My wrist is holding up pretty good right now and I’m thinking of breaking out my Orvis 3 weight. A full flex beauty that is a joy to fish. Killer with poppers. Love the full bend - you feel everything in your hand.

No, it is a Silver Label “mid flex” 6.5 8’4” 2 7/8 oz 3 wgt beauty. I have a story on it. I refer to it as the rod Orvis custom made just for me. What happened was that I had an old catalog with the rod in it, but it was way out of production. On a “yeah right” impulse I emailed them and asked if they still had blanks, and if so would they build one for me. Lo and behold and surprise, Orvis said yes and they custom built one for me at the original catalog price! Try that today! I bought the Battenkill that went with it at the time, and it really was pure love from the git go. My biggest smallie, and a personal best at well over 2 lbs was caught on that rod. What a battle! I love Orvis rods and have several. I bought the best grade I could afford at the time. I still have an Orvis Full Flex Fiberglas 7 wgt that is a blast on all sizes of fish. No doubt a collectors item and is in perfect condition. You don’t sell an Orvis until you’re flat broke. Good memories!

I’ve only ordered one item from Orvis....a pair of waders. I had ordered some cheap ones and was informed they had shipped. After a week nothing. When calling Orvis I was told they no longer made the waders I had ordered and the service person put me on hold. A manger came on the phone.....apologized....told me I would get a complete refund....and oh...can we send you a complimentary pair of waders at no charge to you. Of course I said yes and we did the sizing over the phone while I was fishing the tailrace at Pickwick. They overnighted the waders. I remember looking them up on the website when I got home. They had sent me a 250 dollar pair of waders....that was in 2009. Pretty darn good deal.

    Regards

+1 on the amazing. I was always impressed about how Cabelas honored their waders for leaking a few years back, but your story is a topper.

They work great when the big bulls are up shallow.

    good luck.
I second these mini cranks bought at Walmart years ago. However all I’ve ever caught with them are early spawning green sunfish 2 to 6 inches slow retrieved over vegetation,....suckers are vicious lol. I’ll give it another go eventually after seeing these cool looking bluegills pictures...awesome catch, Danny!
