I’m not up on a lot of what is spoken of here, but just wanted to pass this on. I’ve used a product called super lube for over 30 years on my brownings and other high polish finished guns. It’s a clear silicone grease that comes in aerosol or squeeze tube, I also use it on electrical connections as a corrosion preventive. Since using this I’ve never had a spot of rust develop and the hinges on the over/unders have never galled. Other greases used by others have failed causing damage to some very expensive guns. Being clear it is also easy to see when it’s time to clean and replace it. A good product that has served me well.

What got me started on it was my first .243 lever action Browning. It was perfect. I cleaned it, wiped it down with a gun oil rag and put it up. When I pulled it out a few weeks later there was a perfect thumbprint of light rust in the middle of the clear side of the receiver. I was sick. Wiped it down and started looking around and started using the super lube aerosol sprayed on a piece of flannel. Haven’t changed since, but I’ve worn out a few pieces of flannel. For hinges and gears I haven’t found need of better. The aerosol has a carrier type solvent that evaporates pretty quick and leaves the grease behind. This thinner grease coming from the can goes into places common type grease just has a hard time getting to.

Oh no that’s not my work. I quit tearing reels down years ago because of just what you see in that pic. I got to where I could no longer see the tiny parts and along with fumbling fingers I had to give it all up. That is a pic of one of the reels I own. I wanted to see just what was inside and there is a guy out of Russia who buys new reels....takes them completely apart then reassembles them. He has a YouTube channel and I check his channel out from time to time just to see what is inside of a reel I own or if he has a tear down of a reel I am thinking of buying. I am amazed at how quick these guys can tear one down that far and reassemble.
