Late last year, Oakley came out with a new line of sunglasses with lenses specifically designed for fisherman. Having been a lifelong Oakley wearer, I was skeptical there was much they could improve on. Boy, was I wrong!

The model is called the SplitShot. They come with wire keepers that attach to the back of the arms using an ingenius little snap system to secure them. (also easily removable)

There are two models - one for deep water, and one for shallow water. While I have no idea why they chose those models/descriptors, I do own both, and I have found they are suitable more for water color than depth. The deep water model are excellent for clear to gin-clear water, and the shallow water model are great for tannic or turbid water. I keep both on the boat at all times.

I've had several people in the boat with me over the past few weeks, all wearing various brands of polarized sunglasses, everything from other Oakley models to gas-station specials. None could see what I saw in the water. After letting them take a peek through the SplitShots, all have ordered a pair.

    Try them. They are amazing.

No, I'm not sponsored by Oakley. LOL

Costa with the green mirror polarized glass lens. I also got some Shady Rays in blue mirror pol that work almost as well, are cheaper, and guaranteed against loss. The Costas are the best I've ever worn.

After reading this I guess I need to try a pair of Costa. I have a mild scrip but readers are a must, couldn’t tie a knot without them. Been using some from Wally for years, pair number 10 or 11 by now but for $20 a pair it doesn’t hurt to replace them. Polarized wrap around with readers in the bottom. If you have seen a pic of me with shades on, that’s what they were.

I used to go through a couple pair of the Walmart special sunglasses a year, always breaking them. Then I spent almost $200 on my Ocean Waves. I know where they are at all times and haven't broken a pair of sunglasses since then.
