    Default Full Moon

Full moon last week , how did you do ? Just curious about others . I went twice . A day trip to Lamar Bruce yielded 15 bream and a few bass . No really big bulls . Fished our farm pond and caught lots of small bass but only a handful of bream . They were on the bed but refused to bite . I am in northeast MS. Would like to hear how others did on the full moon .

I did well, only fished Thursday but found several good spots with hungry fish. Look down this board for Perfect 10 for pictures. Targeted fish were in pre spawn locations, picked the bigger ones off points, sharp deep pockets, and places they will not bed, but very close to the bedding areas. Cold weather with frost, wind, and work have kept me away from them since then, but with 80 degree weather coming end of the week they will be headed back in the right direction. I am in E TN fishing large public reservoirs maintained for water storage and power generation. Cherokee Lake is almost 25 miles long.

I went Saturday and found it good but not as good as a week ago. Makes no sense to me. Had I kept any I would have had about 8 crappie over 12” and a nice bluegill, probably 7”. Kept one 13” and another 11” for lunch.

Scanned hundreds of acres of spawning areas in the lake....not the first bed anywhere. Hit the river and caught a ton of fish.....but not on beds. Just relating to structure.

Have been on beds here in West Tennessee for about 2 weeks now. Have caught 30-50 keeper 8-9” bluegill and 9-10” redears each trip. Fishing very shallow bodies of water, 2-4 feet everywhere. Went today for about 2 hours and caught a nice mess.

I'm going all in the next two weeks because this was the coldest and weirdest full moon I've ever experienced here in my neck of the woods.

I'm really starting to wonder if the June full moon will be the ticket this year? I'm in Western Kentucky, usually the May full moon is fire but the weather never warmed the water up enough to fire them up.

I'm in same boat as y'all: low water temps for this time of year, front after front, blackberry winter, huckleberry winter, and windy, too. It's got to break loose soon, so I'm trying to stay on the water. Soon. It will happen soon.

I did drive 2 hours to a lake where we caught them on that other thread. Much warmer there, and that shallow lake was at 75 F already. No real big ones, though.

Wasn't able to get out on Thursday, but did on Friday. Kept 12 bull bluegill and 2 shellcrackers. Released about as many in 4 hours of fishing from 11:00 - 3:00. Fishing wasn't comfortable with the cold front blowing in with strong winds and spitting rain, but the bite was pretty good until the front actually passed, then it slowed and then shut off . So really the bite was only good for 2 hours. I was fishing from the bank and my target area was 5 feet deep and about 80 feet from the bank. The bulk of the fish were caught on a trout magnet (bison or root beer float - didn't make a difference) fished about 30 inches under a 3-3/4" rocket bobber. A couple were caught on red worms fished the same way. I have a feeling I could have caught a bunch more had I gone out on Wednesday or Thursday when the weather was more stable, but had work to do and couldn't get out.
