    Default Digging In the Weeds

Hit two different ponds this evening. Caught some nice (but smaller) ones at the first stop.

Moved to the second pond where the bigger ones live! The first one ran right for the weedy growth along the bank. Not much I could do with the 2# line. [I had a four pound bass do the exact same thing at the exact same location two or three days ago. Fortunately, I was fishing for bass, so no problems extracting him from the weeds with the 20# braid.]

I tried for a bit to pull him out. It wasn't going to happen. Luckily, I had my waders in the car. So on they went and into the weeds I went.

I had to do this on the next catch too. Not my idea of wading but these fish were too nice just to break off.

Finally, I caught a few on an area of the bank with far fewer weeds! What a relief!

In all, 17 were caught, including two bass. More exercise than I expected, but fun.

Looks like a lot of fun to me, excluding the hard work.

Nice dark looking fish. They should be bedding right now with the Full Moon upon us.

several of the ponds I hit get that growth this time of year and it makes for some dicey ketchn once they get close to the bank .
but the good news is when I see it I know the sunfish are on for sure
the bad news is I also know the crappie have vacated the short water
