    Default Disappointed BP visit

Went to an area bass Pro today hoping to be able to look at a good selection of reels. Well it did not work out. They did not have any Diawa spinning reels and very little in the other brands in the 1000 size. I was also hoping to check a few catfish rods. Did not see a single one not even the Ugly Stik. Seems like BP gets worse every time I visit.

Bass Pro and Cabela's both give me refrigerator blindness or shopping shock. I can't find anything in either. I also find their prices to be inflated.

Both stores have been going downhill awhile.

Check out Sportsmans Warehouse if there is one near you.

I think it depends on the store. Like Walmart, BP knows what sells in their local markets. The Atlanta (Lawrenceville) Bass Pro usually has plenty of Daiwas on hand and loads of Ugly Stiks.

Did an article for them a while back , don’t know much about the store , but I got to go on a ridiculous nice trip in return for a good write up with photos and a story for their paper

The BPS stores aren’t all the same. I have stopped when traveling (my job) and they are day and night different. The store here in Daytona is heavy on salt gear and it’s also small. Orlando is much bigger and carries more fresh water gear and baits. Pretty good fly shop too which is all but absent in Daytona. Academy, sportsman’s warehouse, and a few others do a good job also. They even put stuff on sale that we might be interested in, not just their overstock.

I use to look forward to my trip to the Hamburg, pa Cabelas. This was when Cabela’s was still independent. It is a long ride with traffic so I really ought to check around before I do the ride again, assuming we WILL be able to go to the store again. That said, I have done pretty well with their catalog.

Seems most outdoor stores have a lot less diverse inventory then in the past. Sometimes it is way easier to order it and have it sent to you
