    Default Ready to Spawn

Was only able to grab two redears and one lonely crappie tonight. The two redears were ready to spawn.

Full Moon coming next week, just waiting on water temperatures to get into 70’s and it will be on here!

Very nice fish! Usually the May full moon is the best bluegill and redear fishing to be had on Lake Barkley. However, unless that water warms up in a hurry, our prime action just may happen around the May new moon.

I know the moon phases really affect their spawns, but so does water temperatures. Which one is more important is the million dollar question.

That is a brute.... Looks to be a female also....
I haven't caught not a one female redear yet this year....
70° surface temp seems to be the breaking point for the males to come looking down here....

Nice fish! We are also waiting for water and air temps to come up. We had a warmer night last night and more this week which should help a lot. I caught a few yesterday with nice colors and good fight. I also fell in so drying out the phone and cleaning the reel! Hopefully my yearly tradition has been fulfilled!

Raining like crazy here today. Up to 2" predicted. Not sure what that will do for the fishing, but I may have to venture out and see (where's my rain gear). Last time I checked, water temps were in the mid-60s here. These cold nights of late have kept it from going higher.
