    Default Pond question

Went to my favorite little farm pond yesterday. Not so much a farm pond as it is a water hole in the bottom of a holler in the woods, but it hold hard fighting bass and monster bluegill. Last few time I’ve been, yesterday included, the bite has absolutely sucked. I see fish all over, but they will not bite. Big schools of bluegill and bass all around the pond, but can’t get them to hit live bait or lures. Yesterday I was trying to get s few gills out of there for catfish bait this weekend, but only managed to catch 4 small bass.
I also noticed the pond had a kind of sheen on the water. Similar to oil, but without the rainbow colors oil puts off. This pond is spring fed and very secluded. I know the family who owns the property and they assure me I am the only person who fishes it. Any ideas what’s wrong with my pond?
    Thanks
    Jesse

Jesse - my best guess is that the fish weren’t in a feeding kind of a mood when you were out there. My in-laws have a nice little pond and I am basically the only one who fishes it. I couldn’t hardly by a bite the last several times I fished it. Then a couple days ago, I couldn’t keep them off my jig. That’s just how it is sometimes. I bet when weather and temperatures stabilize a little bit, the catching will improve out there.

Have you had any rain lately? Maybe a hard rain will improve surface water quality? And get the gills biting. How small a bait did you try? Good luck.
