Congrats on your catch. Bison has produced literally thousands of fish for me. Here is a pic of how much I think of that color.

    FACT
Fishing Panfish, bluegill or trout my strikes are always better when the TM is tipped with something.

pretty much all panfish fall for the tip the jig program , I about never go without some scent of some kind .
straight artificial will get it done in some cases , but tipped will get it done way faster

Is it safe to say that when rigging the bison colored TM you always put the light colored side down? At least that's what I do.

No..........I don’t orient it in any particular manner. A lot of folks swear it matters. I’ve literally caught thousands of fish on a Bison colored Trout Magnet. I have never known fish to prefer it oriented one way or the other.

Aside from the bison color, what would be some top 3-4 color choices for panfish? catalpa? bulldog?

Bulldog is good....black....root beer. Sow Bug has proven to be a great color.....not only for bluegill but crappie seem to love it.
