Thread: Want to focus on pan fishing this year

I also have a TSS rod and have used it with both 20 and 25 sized President reels. Both feel good to me, the rod really has pretty good balance for an American production rod. I have some 3lb Meister nylon line on it and it works and casts very well. Looking forward to the posts of the fish you catch after you have it rigged.

Went out this past Saturday with the TSS rod and the 2lb SOS line to try out the 1/64 oz trout magnet. Was only out about 1.5 hours but caught eight bluegills. Used the bison for five of them then switched over to the purple haze color. Not too bad for my first time with this new lure.

Great job. We are still struggling up here in PA with lots of rain and cold temps. Not many days to try and wet a line.

Same here in NY. Wind, cold temps and rain kind a put a damper taking the boat out. Still dream of some nice 70 degree days and semi-calm water getting near pre-spawn to catch a bunch - comfortably. There have been some shoreline catches in the last month that astound! Not my thing. Guess I'll keep coming up with more Frankenstein hybrid soft plastics until then.

Our past Saturday weather was nice but Sunday rained all day. That was why I tried to get out on Saturday and it was mid-day so probably not the most ideal time to fish but I was happy to get out and wet a line. I did try a bobby garland shad type plastic and didn't get anything. It was a small pond so doubt anything big was in it.

Anyone using the 1/64 trout magnet spin for crappie/bream? If so, do you have some success with it?

I'm not a big fan of blades. I do fine with plain ol' jigs.

I believe they are used for reaction strikes,which I believe beetle spins do the same.I have caught copious amounts of crappie using beetle spins,but I find I do better by replacing the beetle with a larger plastic.That said,I much prefer jigs,especially under a float,but everything has its place, confidence catches more fish than most baits.
