Lots of good info here for ya,may I suggest using honey worms either with long shank thin wire hooks,or coupled with a 1/32-1/16 jig.I know some say drop the float, but you are missing out on another dimension. When you mate a proper float with a small jig tipped with a plastic or natural morsel, your enjoyment level will surely rise, and your catch won’t suffer.
I like 2-4 lb test line,5’6 ultra light rod with a small spinning reel for all my bluegill fishing.I do like 7’ ultra light rods for casting for crappie, and 10’ - 12’ telescoping rods for dipping brush.Dont get too caught up in over buying ( that will come in due time ) Fish on !

    Thanks, guys!

Yes, I have variety of hook sizes and weights. Good tip in the honey worms or the other power bait stuff.

Speaking of scent make sure to have some Slab Sauce or G-Sauce preferably both!

I keep waiting for US plastic makers to build the scent into their plastics. I tip with a very tiny piece of a Berkley Power Wiggler. I strongly dislike sprays. Not because they don’t work.....they are messy. Not to confuse your selection of lures but I sometimes use an C’ultiva Rockin’ Bait Ring Kick Tail. It has a pheromone in it and fish grab the thing and won’t let go. It is 2 inches long and while bluegill will hit it....it is not my first choice for bluegill. I have tried a number of JDM plastics with not a lot of success....except with the Ring Kick Tail. Of course the JDM plastics are designed for their salt water fish.

    Regards

Crappie Nibbles - no mess, well almost none. Let them dry out a little before using. They will stay on the hook better.

I use scent sometimes, mostly when the bite slows and I’m trying to see if they’re still around and have lost interest. It helps at times, but I’m on the same page as Alphahawk. Pouring a little into something like a tuna can and dunking the bait in it is much easier than an applicator bottle. My brother and I used to chop up some shrimp and do the same thing when we were sea trout fishing when we were younger. Worked very well for us then.

some really small pinch on floats and a few 1/64 number 8 jigheads and a bottle of anything they might eat and you are in business .
the list is endless , a few red wigglers , some crappie nibbles , some mealworms ,pcs. of hotdogs ,whole kernel corn and etc etc etc .
when I panfish on purpose I go with a light pocket and a light rod and get after them pretty well .
As a guy who utilizes the bank quite often I can tell you that will get the job done most always
