    Default Another good day!

Hit the lake at Nickajack hoping to find bedding shellcracker.....but realistically I knew it was a bit early. After giving it an hour I pulled out and hit the tailrace. As has been the case so far this year it did not disappoint. Caught a lot of Gills at the 8-8.5 mark.....they may have been short but they had good girth. Had a few good shellcracker. Of course the crappie are still stacked in there....all down the ledge.....I mean it goes on for hundreds of yards like that. I boated about 5 dozen with many at the 13 inch mark......most at 12 or a little over. I fully expect within the next week to go down there and spot lock on my regular spot and catch nothing but shellcracker and Gills.

    Regards

Wow. Man I want to come fish with you, but I'll settle for the video!

Nice fish yet again, keep after them. Rod of choice today? Some of the others in the stable may start getting restless!

Interesting you ask that. I was thinking I might find some bluegill....shellcracker....red ear sunfish beds today. I took along my Palms Egeria 64 XUL rod. I don’t use it often but it sure is a lot of fun on bedding Gills. It is a medium end rod.....same price as the 18 Fine Tail FAX rods. But the rod lacks in sensitivity. I used it a lot today but after missing a lot of fish I put it up and whipped out the Banshee 67. Didn’t miss a single fish after I changed. As you know I don’t set the hook using my high end rods.....I don’t even set the hook using the 18 Fine Tail SUL. It just reinforced what I already knew. The high end UL rods with the great blanks....fast action.....are a huge advantage.

    Regards

I’ll take some of that myself Randy. I’ve had two good weekends here but ramps are closing all around me. Caught near 50 yesterday and released all but three that went to a father and son nearby that couldn’t buy a fish. Something about leaning back on a rod after a thump and the drag starts talking that makes it hard to concentrate for a couple of days afterwards. Looking forward to the video, keep after em while you can, never know what tomorrow will bring.

Another awesome day Randy! The redear spawn is right around the corner. I will be in a mission to get on them good this year.
