I would pull off there....it was just an idilic setting....crystal clear water....beaver swimming around. Those were the days.

Small world. A high school classmate of my wife ran that restaurant. Good food. Cold water. Great fishing! I have caught smallmouth in eleven streams in that county, where I also grew up. Lots of memorable fishing trips there and at Pickwick.

When the crappie are in shallow and the temps are hot the fish go into a frenzy state ,you can hear & see them slurping bugs off the surface. Its then the st croix 7' ultralight with a cricket hopper comes out to play , crappie are a panfish yes but every bit a predator as well, life is good when the action is so fast that fish are getting cold and the beer is getting warm!!

I found this lure deadly on crappie, bass, bluegill, and anything else you throw it in front of. This includes a 6# Bowfin that destroyed my lure.
    It's a 1/5" Floating Rapala minnow
I'm using 6# Fireline with 4# flurocarbon leader.

Ultrlight rod and real, 4lb test with a teardrop bobber and 3-4 ft of leader. Cast as far or near as you want with super light bait.Name: teardrop.jpg
