Florida Canal Multispecies Fishing
I had some worms left in the fridge and wanted to make sure they didn't go to waste. I don't normally fish like this, but I decided to just bottom fish some worms in a local canal. I've fished this canal many times in the past, but it was always just for peacocks. I really wasn't sure what other fish were in there, but I knew the worms would let me find out. I expected to catch a bunch of panfish which I did (bluegill sunfish, redear sunfish, and mayan cichlids), but what I wasn't expecting was some larger fish decided to hit the worms as well. I caught one peacock and another even larger fish got away. Hope you like it.

You can. Not too many people kayak down here though, at least not that I've seen. If they're on a boat it's usually a bass boat. However, I've been meaning to get a kayak for a while now and I think I'll get one in the next year. I love kayak fishing, but I just haven't been able to make it work logistically.Originally Posted by StantheMan2567

That’s odd about the seemingly lack of yakking, has gotten very popular up here, they sell them at Walmart like hot cakes in the Spring. With the warmer seasons and all the available waters down there, seems like kayaks would outnumber bicycles.

Ironically enough there was a bike path 10 steps behind me the entire time I was fishing. Runs along the entire canal. Lots of bikes coming through all the time. If you head more towards the beach the number of kayaks increase, but even then they're out numbered by regular people on paddle boards.
