Any of the above will work just fine.

X2 on the above choices. The Bass Pro Microlite in ML action is by no means whippy and will throw a 1/16oz lure a great distance when spooled with a light braid. I fished with the 7ft for several years through a couple of their generations of blanks in ML and found it to be a great all around rod for Beetle Spins, Rooster Tails, jig and float rigs, the works. Trade in an old rod during their Spring Fishing Classic that is coming up and get 10 extra dollars off of an already great priced rod.

Ugly Stick ultralight or Classic are both great for Beetle Spins . I also throw a small floating Rapala the bream, crappie and bass love. Local stores here don't carry so I had to order but it's a killer combo together with the Bettle Spins.
I have the Shakespeare President reels on them. (6525s I think)

I use a Tica 7' light, a fine rod and a ok price. Get one on Amazon. I also use JDM rods but for your application the Tica is a great rod.

No use buying the high end to cast heavy baits . jmo . If you are a ultra-light purist then those top end rod and reels are the ticket. 4lb. test and 1/32 are 90 % of my bream/red ear fishing . An Okuma Ce-lilo (6'2" or Browning Air stream 6' 6" and a pflouger president 6925 serves me well . You see I have two fly rods that I have to hide from my wife . lol Not really but we all pay up for our passion . Some spend more because it is their real interest in fishing . I happen to be a jack of all trades . Crappie , black bass , Small mouth, crappie , red ear, cat fish and a trout trip as well as salt water for amber jack and speckled trout . I probably have several thousand tied up in " Average " equipment .

I use the Shakesphere microlite line for my bluegill setups. I think the rods are only in the $25ish range so pretty cheap, but I like em so far. I have a 7ft ultralight that is kinda whippy and a 5'6" light thats not very whippy at all. I havent done much casting things like beetle spins yet but I want to start to more this year. I figure the 5'6" light would cast those pretty good, I can sling a 1/16 oz jig a decent distance with it.

Alot of rods will do great with a Beetle Spin. I guess the 7' Shakespear Microlite in a lite action is one of my favorite for Beetle Spins. I think the 6'6" in a lite would be great also. I fish Beetle Spins on alot of my rigs, they are some of my favorite lures.
