    Default 500 series reels

It's time to replace an old Shimano Symetre on my micro rod. Used for slow retrieve vertical fishing, no casting. Spooled with 2 or 3LB mono. I'm leaning towards the Shimano Sedona. Any others I should be looking at?

I bought some used Sedona 500's at flea mkts and ebay. Pretty good reels. If you're just vertical fishing the Shimano Sienna 500's are good and only $30.

Go with the Sedona, it will last for years and is super smooth.

The Sedonas are smooth - the older green Siennas are 4 bearing, not as smooth as Sedona - I got 2 Sienna 500's I've had for several years and I like them, Some Wallyworlds in my area still stock the green ones.

PM your address and I'll send you a lightly used Kast King Centron 500 for Christmas. I prefer the 1000 size and they are just laying around. Good little reel.

It's all just personal preference on all these rods and reels nowadays. If we're catching fish and having fun that's all that matters. And that's just my personal opinion.

For the small spool reels I have to say I’m all over the board. I have 3 President 6920’s and like em fine and don’t break the bank. I also have a few from the cheap seats. Mitchell Avocet in the small size, and just got a couple of Diawa sweepfire in the small size. Not a lot of bearings in the Diawa’s but they work good. For the $20 each I wasn’t complaining. I wore out an old Diawa Mini Mite years ago which started this fire within we all call ultra light, and I haven’t been the same since.
