Supposed to be a few here in Kansas but Minnesota, the Dakotas, Colorado, etc. is where you can really get into them.

How far north would I have to go before I could catch a yellow perch?

Thanks man! BFS is slowly trickling in to the states as more and more affordable Chinese rods/reels are available on the market. I believe I have seen some folks in here talk about it as well. I Hope the crappie community will start utilizing them more often. Next season i will likely change my Drop shot rod, which is a ML light spinning rod/reel combo to a shallow spool baitcasting reel in hopes off less issues with line twists that causes nasty tangles in spinning reels.
Well i am from New Jersey, but have caught them in Delaware too...
the USGS does have a map that shows where they have been reported. Very accurate data in my opinion compared to stupid apps like fish brain. but anyhow.. here is a link:

Nickajack Lake in southeast TN has a good population of yellow perch. They don’t have the jumbos like they do up north but lots of 10-11 inch fish.
